Two Viva & Co. projects – a series of posters and a corporate identity – have been selected for inclusion in the Annual of the
Type Directors Club Typography 31 (hardcover, published by HarperCollins), and will be shown at the 56th Awards Exhibition in New York City. The exhibition tours cities in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Spain and Russia.
Deadpan is Frank Viva's contribution to the HarperCollins children's book Half-Minute Horrors, a collection of terrifying short tales and creepy illustrations. It was chosen for American Illustration 28. “Sometimes a blunt HB pencil is just right. Sometimes a well balanced sword is the thing. More often, an axe is needed to keep you're family warm through the long winter nights. Here, a non-stick fry-pan purchased at The Salvation Army fit the bill. Always choose the right tool for the job.” fv
During November, Viva and Co. received 3 design awards from the Advertising & Design Club of Canada; 2 design awards from Applied Arts magazine and a Judges Choice award from NUARS. Winning projects include the 125 year history of George Weston Limited; the Curious Quotes poster series and a complete design program award for Whigby.
We're proud of this first version of the Viva & Co. site. The navigation reflects our commitment to smart information architecture and clear usability. Behind the curtain is a powerful content management system. The site is structured so that content will be “scraped” and easily indexed by search engines. Our mini stop-motion animations will be posted to YouTube. Together, these steps will ensure that we can be found by anyone looking for a firm like ours using most search methods and criteria. These are the basics that our clients are looking for today. We are just as passionate about the nuances of expert web design as we are about they way ink reacts when it hits paper or the quality of a blind-emboss. We hope you like it.
